may the barack be with you.

I've been tuning out politics lately (as happens when it upsets me) but was nonetheless long overdue for a picture of The Barack. Can you believe it's been almost a year since I was posting photos of him every day? I miss the mass emotional upheaval of presidential campaign season.

your last regular barack a day.

So it took me a day to recover from my one woman celebration of the most satisfying electoral victory I've ever been apart of, but I think Michaele provided a nice way to wrap up the "Barack a day" feature with this great gallery of pictures from President-Elect Obama's campaign. This one was my favorite, I think because having children living in the White House provides a poignant symbol to remind people of the hope and the possibilities that this presidency has to offer. And I think those girls are cutie-pa-tooties.

It has been really nice to talk to people around campus who voted for McCain and have acknowledged that no matter the outcome, democracy has done its job and the people have spoken, and they'll support Obama. I think that people can get past the loss and see that we all have to move forward and solve the problems our country is facing really shows that regardless of who is at the helm, we all have to rise to meet the time that we live in. It's nice to feel unity again.

exultant.

barack the vote.

First, you need your game face on.

That's better.

Barack's ready, are you?

Get to the polls early, folks. There's too much at stake to wait.

OBAMA /BIDEN '08!

a barack a day with only two days left.

We can't be complacent, but news like this is uplifting: McCain hasn't led a national poll in six weeks and Barack has a commanding lead in states totaling 300 electoral votes.

Also, PSA to my fellow Utahns: Don't forget that State Liquor Stores will be closed on Tuesday!

a barack a day reminding you that grad students can grow up to be pretty useful.

Seriously. Graduate students got a shout out on 30 Rock! So legit now.

a barack a day: god's gift edition.

Good lord! (who in my life says that? why can I not stop saying that?!) Thank goodness it is after midnight so I didn't have to be all crazy barack a daying for a third time. I present to you a magical blog: Yes We Can (hold babies). I had a hard time picking one, but I like this one because who can resist going nom nom nom on little wandering fingers? No one. Not even Barack.

Now if you'll excuse me, my ovaries are crying and my latent Auntie Mel is threatening to buy plane tickets so that's about all the Yes We Can (hold babies) I can take. Only 6 days to go! Good lord! (who says that?!)

28 October 2008

a barack a day... oh wtf, let's go crazy: oodles of baracks a day.

This one of Barack standing in the rain in Pennsylvania yesterday was just too cool to pass up. Primarily because I've forgotten what rain looks like.

a barack a day with elections one week away.

27 October 2008

a barack a day is solid as barack.

So cool. There is a reason why me and my BFF are always like "I'm trying to be Barack about it" because he looks so chilled all the time.

Also, I have been singing this shit since Saturday:

26 October 2008

a barack a day makes you wanna go play.

This might be one of my favorite pics yet.

23 October 2008

a barack a day makes mccain feel lame.

Thoughtful, introspective, calm... just waiting to employ all that good judgment and measured temperament as President of the United States.Oh hiiiiii, Michelllllle! White wine spritzers after the rally? Sounds great!

a barack a day makes nov. 4th go his way.

So I just had an idea. I've been wearing my Obama / Biden button every day so that all of those ridockulous swing voters here in Utah (it's like a chorus-- "there are no good choices"*) have to see Barack and Joe's smiling faces every damn day before the election. Although I don't think that many of my readers are swing voters, let's face it, I'm excited about this election and I am fired up for Barack! So because it's my blog and I live (and vote!) in a red state, I'm presenting you with a Barack a Day every day until the election.

Aren't they cute? I want to have them over for dinner.

*David Sedaris on swing voters:

"To put them in perspective, I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. “Can I interest you in the chicken?” she asks. “Or would you prefer the platter of shit with bits of broken glass in it?”

To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked."
